Butterwick Alpaca Retreat is owned and run by Chris and Anna Ramsey. It is a new venture and something completely different for both of us where we are enjoying learning and achieving new experiences at every turn. We have changed an overgrown non-descript 6 acres of agricultural land into a productive, structured and well-maintained animal secure area.
At a time in our lives when taking things a little easier would have been the sensible option, we have decided inadvertently to do the exact opposite! We have 5 male pet Alpacas that enjoy daily walks along the fields and we have breeding females which are part of our business plan.
We have Pygmy goats and our two Ryeland lambs are cuteness overload and our hens and ducks supply rich free-range eggs with amazing large orange yolks. Our love of the outdoors enables us to love our life come rain or shine although the latter is definitely our preference.
We aim to put smiles on faces wherever and whenever possible and love working with local organisations on a sensory basis to achieve this for all ages. Schools, care and residential facilities including dementia units can benefit greatly from visits from our sensitive animals. Our alpacas bring a calm and peaceful feeling of wellbeing to those that share their company.
